You will need a flashlight in the woods. It's dark. I would recommend not buying the cheapest one, you want something reliable. But don't spend a ton of money. I would recommend against the 3 D cell Mag Light, they are heavy. Find something light. Head lamps have become very popular with the backpacking crowd (great for working on your car too). LED flashlights have much longer battery life, but the bulbs are not as bright. Halogen flashlights are brighter, but burn batteries faster.
